Psyche: The breath of life/soul.

Logos: The study or knowledge.

Original meaning of Psychology: The study of the soul.

Today’s meaning of Psychology: The study of behavior and mental processes.

Spiritual Psychology/ Psychotherapy: Is stripping away everything and taking it back to the very roots -- the Soul. It is about the care of the soul or taking care of the energy in our system and that around us.

I am often asked what is the difference between main stream psychotherapy and spiritual psychotherapy and here is my answer:

Main stream psychotherapy is disease-based. It is about looking at symptoms, assessing them and using different therapy modalities that can help resolve the unresolved.

However, spiritual psychotherapy is taking you back to the essence of who you truly are; a Divine Being of Love & Light having a human experience.

Spiritual psychology is the art and practice of conscious awakening; awakening into the awareness of who we truly are.

The Three Essential Questions:

Who am I?

Why am I here?

What is my Purpose?

There is a growing pattern of people looking for more in their life. Choosing to break the norm of the material world and instead acknowledge there is more to life then what is in front of them. They are choosing to seek alignment to allow them to make their difference in the world.

What is Spiritual Psychotherapy?

Spiritual psychotherapy is based on evoking the soul to surmount the unique challenges and stresses in your life. This is a gentle and profound journey into the depths of mind and spirit. The techniques include psychotherapy, art-based therapy and guided or unguided meditation. The prerequisites for engaging in this form of therapy is a sincere commitment to invite more soul — more energy — into our life.

Spiritual psychotherapy focuses on empowering each client to bring forth the wisdom and clarity of his or her soul. Anchoring and reinforcing the newly gained insights, he or she may experience the following outcomes:

Respond to stress with a positive life affirming approach.

Awaken the peace and clarity of his/her soul in daily life.

Discover powerful affirmations that counter the negative and self-limiting tendencies rooted in the subconscious mind.

Clear deep core issues and old traumas.

Develop an intuitive trust in his/her own inner voice.

Release anxiety, fear, and guilt.

Journey within one's soul to co-create a rich, abundant and successful life.

If we want to create real, life-lasting changes, it is essential to connect with our true self.

Who are we underneath all the difficulties that we face? What are we learning? What qualities are we developing or need to develop? By connecting deeply with our core essence, we can have access to a part of us that can transcend the difficulties that we may identify with.

Holistic Counseling is an approach which helps clients to heal by taking the entire human being and their life experiences into consideration for assessment and treatment purposes. Holistic counseling assesses and treats from physical and spiritual contexts- as well as a psychological or mental ones.

A holistic counselor is conscious of clients in their totality; they take an integrative approach to healing the mind. Their work takes them into the multiple dimensions of human experience; the physical, the spiritual and the psychological. Ultimately, they seek to heal by helping their clients to break free from destructive behaviors and enjoy a new and improved state of mental, spiritual and physical health.

Holistic counseling does not consider the client as damaged and in need of repair; it instead focus on helping the client release the spiritual perfection which lies within.

Holistic Counseling Modalities

Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis uses guided relaxation, intense concentration, and focused attention to achieve a heightened state of awareness that is sometimes called a trance. It is usually considered an aid to counseling or therapy, because the hypnotic state allows people to explore painful thoughts, feelings, and memories they might have hidden from their conscious minds.

Energy Psychology – EFT, TAT

Energy psychology is a relatively new method of therapy that combines Eastern approaches to the mind and body with Western psychology and psychotherapy ideas. Practitioners of energy psychotherapy claim that tapping acupuncture points while thinking about an anxiety-producing event can cure anxiety and phobias.

EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique: Is a technique in Energy Psychology that integrates Eastern concepts of energy (via meridians) with Western psychotherapeutic protocol. The goal is to help people overcome their emotional limitations. The basic premise is that if you remove blockages from one meridian, the entire circuit would automatically clear. This technique is particularly helpful for treating phobias and allergies.

TAT – Tapas Acupressure Technique: TAT is part of a larger family of mind-body healing techniques collectively known as Energy Psychology. The Tapas Acupressure Technique combines holding acupressure points on your head and going through a series of 9 statements. It can be used to heal the emotional charge and physical reactions to trauma, abuse, stress, and adverse childhood experiences so that an individual is no longer triggered by those memories and can live from a more spiritually-connected, centered, and peaceful place.

Pranayama

Pranayama is generally defined as breath control. However, this definition does not convey the full meaning of the term. The word pranayama is comprised of two roots prana and ayama.

“Prana” means vital energy or life force. It is the force that exists in all things.

“Ayama” is defined as extension or expansion.

“Pranayama” is the extension and the expansion of the life force.

Pranayama utilizes breathing to influence the flow of prana in the “nadis “(energy channels) of the “pranayama kosha” (energy body).

The techniques of pranayama provides the method, whereby the life force can be activated and regulated in order to go beyond one’s normal boundaries or limitations and attain a higher state of vibratory energy.

Breathing Techniques

Breathing has direct benefits when it comes to your mental and physical health and well-being. Techniques and approaches to using breathing combined with different types of physical movements and postures, help you in harnessing the power of your “Vagus “nerve. This is the main nerve that's responsible for the parasympathetic nervous system in your body which can reduce stress, curb anxiety.

Meditation

Meditation is an ancient wellness practice that focuses on training awareness, attention, and compassion. It can reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus and concentration, and increase feelings of calm and relaxation. Because there are varying practices across cultural, spiritual and religious traditions, there are lots of ways to meditate. At the Inner Space, we focus on guided meditations to assist our clients in their healing journeys.

Individual’s Counseling

Relationships are one of the hardest aspects of our personal lives sometimes and often we have blurred vision when it comes to acknowledging and dealing with issues.

Trauma healing is a deep process. Often it must start gently, the survivor must first recall and acknowledge all that happened. As we guide you through this process, we ensure we take it at your pace. When the feelings and emotions around that event are recognised, you can begin the healing.

Emotional and Psychological Trauma

If you’ve gone through a traumatic experience, you may be struggling with upsetting emotions, frightening memories, or a sense of constant danger that you just can’t kick. Or you may feel numb, disconnected, and unable to trust other people. This brings a sense of helplessness, hopelessness and insecurities.
When bad things happen, it can take a while to get over the pain and feel safe again. But treatment and support from family and friends can speed your recovery from emotional and psychological trauma. Whether the traumatic event happened years ago or yesterday, you can heal and move on.

What Causes Emotional & Psychological Trauma?

Emotional and psychological trauma is the result of extraordinarily stressful events that shatter your sense of security, making you feel helpless and vulnerable in a dangerous world. Traumatic experiences often involve a threat to life or safety, but any situation that leaves you feeling overwhelmed and alone can be traumatic, even if it doesn’t involve physical harm. After all, it’s not the objective facts that determine whether an event is traumatic, but your subjective emotional experience of the event. The more frightened and helpless you feel, the more likely you are to be traumatized.

Emotional and psychological trauma can be caused by single-blow, one-time events, such as a horrible accident, a natural disaster, or a violent attack. Trauma can also stem from ongoing, relentless stress, such as living in a crime-ridden neighborhood or struggling with cancer.

Symptoms of Trauma

Following a traumatic event, most people experience a wide range of physical and emotional reactions. These are “normal” reactions to “abnormal” events. The symptoms may last for days, weeks, or even months after the trauma ended.

Recognized symptoms of emotional and psychological trauma include:

Anxiety

Fear

Anger

Mood Swings

Guilt

Shame

Blaming Yourself

Sadness

Problems focusing

Denial and thinking you’re perfectly okay.

Loss of interest in others & socializing.

Feeling tired all the time.

Being jumpy and easily scared.

Healing & Recovery from Emotional & Psychological Trauma

Not all potentially traumatic events lead to lasting emotional and psychological damage. Some people rebound quickly from even the most tragic and shocking experiences. Others are devastated by experiences, or have their trauma appear in more subtle ways. For example, an unstable or unpredictable childhood might present as an adult that sets routine and plans, with no flexibility. This doesn't mean you need deep therapy, but there may be some unhealed trauma to resolve.

Healing from trauma can become a very subjective process and can take on a very different form, depending on the person who has experienced it. Generalizing is not a good idea, and therefore it’s always best to take an approach that depends on the person trying to recover from the traumatic experience.
Sometimes, when the trauma gets too hard to deal with, it transforms into a Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or what is more commonly known as PTSD. This is when moving on, or recovering from trauma is more intense.

Contact us- take your first step towards healing your trauma in a safe, non judgemental, loving and supportive space.
Some of the modalities used in healing Trauma are:

Psychodynamic Therapy

In this approach, all the subconscious drivers of behavior are examined and discussed to understand what are the main causes of the DYNAMICS of your thoughts and behaviors. This modality takes you all the way back to childhood, where most of the traumas are experienced. In its original form, Psychodynamic Therapy can take a few years before you reap its benefits. Nowadays, we use a modified version which takes time into consideration, thereby reducing the number of sessions for the clients to feel better.

CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

This modality will help you develop actual SKILLS to deal with the issues you're facing. As the name suggests, CBT focuses on cognition, which literally translates into “knowing”: What you know, your belief system, and how your deeply held beliefs drive your behavior. By understanding how your mind works, and how your beliefs fuel your actions, you have a better chance in applying the appropriate modifications to bring about more positive changes to your life. Once you understand the dynamics and how your mind reacts/ responds to certain triggers, you become more apt in choosing the appropriate behavior. A change in behavior will bring about a change in consequences and outcomes.
CBT is an excellent modality to comprehend the workings of the mind. It will uncover your governing beliefs, giving you a chance to mold and reframe them to bring about the desired change. The deeper the understanding, the better the prognosis.

Narrative-Exposure Therapy

Narrative Exposure Therapy is a treatment for trauma-spectrum disorders in survivors of multiple and complex trauma. In this modality, you are guided by the therapist, within a clinical setting, to construct a chronological narrative of your life story (with a focus on the traumatic experiences). The fragmented reports of the traumatic experiences will be transformed into a coherent narrative.

For traumatic stress experiences, the therapist asks in detail for emotions, cognitions, sensory information, physiological responses and probes for respective observations. You are encouraged to relive these emotions while narrating without losing your connection to the “here and now”.

Narrative exposure therapy allows you to reflect reflection on your entire life, fostering a sense of personal identity.

In a nutshell, it attempts to place the trauma within a narrative of the person's life, to give meaning to their problems, and provide the initial steps in constructing a core sense of belonging and identity.

Recovering from a traumatic event takes time, and everyone heals at his or her own pace, but seeking professional help means you can heal and grow, rather than just recover, where you may be unknowingly triggered at any point.

Soul Plan Reading (Based on the Work of Blue Mardsen)

The Theory

The Soul Plan system has its roots in ancient Hebrew numerology. The main concept is that each letter has a numerical value and represents a different creative force or energy. Letters, words, and phrases are assigned a number value, and these values, once united, reflect a fundamental idea that at a deeper level our world is unified and composed of vibration and light. This is similar to the idea that words are energetically charged.

How is Your Soul Plan Derived?

As a starting point in uncovering your Soul plan, we will look at a fundamental aspect of who you are by taking the vibration of your full birth name as our code. This code then becomes your key to revealing the secrets that manifest in your life as a human being.

Your birth name signifies your appearance as a separate identity. It is the original name and letters that give most people the most accurate Soul Plan reading, as your full, recorded birth name always has primary influence. Imagine it as your ‘soul’ choosing the given birth name. No matter how the naming decision is made, your name is fundamental to your relationship with the world and your life path in it.

We use the vibration of your full birth name to generate ‘Your Star of Creation’. Each Star of Creation symbolizes each person as a unique creation. Each Star will have six vibrations around it (symbolizing the six points of a star) and one vibration at its core, which is the Soul destiny. The Star, in a nutshell, is a representational forces at play within our perceived reality.

What Does a Soul Plan Reading Cover?

The six vibrational points around us will be divided into two parts. One part represents the world aspect, which is how you establish yourself in this physical world reality. The second part represents the spiritual aspect of your existence, or your higher purpose in a worldly form.

In both lines of life, we will cover the challenges you could possibly experience, the talents which are the natural abilities you are born with, and how you can use them to work through your challenges and achieve your goals, on both physical and spiritual levels.

Worldly challenges can include blocks, negative behavior patterns, fears, limiting beliefs and difficult to access talents. They can encompass those areas of life that present the most difficulty and there is a possibility that, if worked through, these challenges can become your area of greatest strength.

The Spiritual aspect usually refers to the second phase of life. For some this may begin to emerge as a deeper recognition of their inner life and a wider global awareness beyond material concerns and their immediate environment. Often this involves awaking the fact that we are more than just a body. As you transition into the spiritual phase, you are faced with Spiritual Challenges, Spiritual Talents, and Spiritual Goals. These include the lessons/opportunities you are working with, the gifts /services you have access to, and your higher purpose in this existing reality.

Soul Destiny

The Soul Destiny represents an essential aspect that is also indicative of your highest potential and overall purpose. This aspect becomes more powerful and predominant the more you move through your lessons and Challenges, and activate your Talents and Goal energies. At a transcendental level it is the invitation to let go and become nothing other than fully your essential self.

'description' => '
The Four Perspectives

Spiritual Psychology takes you into the world of energy, spirit and life force, and maintains 4 important perspectives that make it unique and essential to your health and transformation.

Spiritual Psychology takes the approach that we don’t need to be fixed. Even though we experience pain or suffering as human beings, we are not fundamentally broken. At the core, there is nothing “wrong” with us. We may have been wounded, and may continue to be in need of healing, but that does not mean that in our essence we are faulted. Spiritual Psychology takes the compassionate path of seeing our elemental wholeness, and helps us to reconnect to that place of peace and clarity within us.

Spiritual Psychology affirms the reality that we are more than our biology. Our bodies are absolutely brilliant. The intelligence of our cells and molecules and the power of every system in the body are truly astounding. However, when we view ourselves simply as biology – a mere collection of cells and molecules – we actually underestimate our ability and power as human beings. One of the reasons why Spiritual Psychology is so needed now is that it acknowledges the immense ability we have to heal ourselves when we tap into the bigger and deeper soul and spirit level. When we work with our relationship to the divine, our connection to our soul, and lean into the support of the universe, we can more profoundly affect healing on many different levels.

Spiritual Psychology sees and honors our natural urge to evolve and grow. People have a natural tendency to learn and change. Spiritual Psychology acknowledges that inclination. In Spiritual Psychology, there’s an understanding that push or force is unnecessary when it comes to helping the human character progress. We simply need compassion, support and guidance, and we will open up into our fullest potential.

Spiritual Psychology views our challenges in life as soul lessons. Part of trusting our path of growth and change is holding the perspective that all of the challenges we face are opportunities that life is giving us to encourage us to evolve. Every problem we encounter is an opportunity for us to learn. Our current obstacle in life, whatever it is, is a lesson for our soul - it’s a chance to understand and embrace ourselves more deeply, so that we can live more fully.

Purpose of Learning the Principles of Spiritual Psychology

The purpose for learning the principles of spiritual psychology is to provide the clients opportunities for learning the Soul-Centered Basic skills and practicing them throughout their journey. By learning these skills, clients will gain a deeper understanding of the following: Seeing the loving essence, heart-centered listening, asking open-ended questions, choice, responsibility, commitment to self and many other principles that offer great personal support.

At the Inner Space, and over a period of 12 sessions, we can explore all the Soul-Centered Basic Skills & Soul-Centered Facilitation Strategies which will assist you on your healing journey. Technically, you’ll be equipping yourself with a toolset which you can use whenever the need arises.

This is typically more beneficial for those that have undergone periods of healing and professional guidance.

Some make you want to push yourself and some make you want to curl up in a ball and hide. No matter what your challenges are, they are real and important to you and they can be some of your greatest teachers. But, don’t take them so seriously!

Yes, there are ‘serious’ challenges but anything can be made a little (or a lot) easier by shifting your perspective and your attitude.

Shifting perspectives and attitudes is central to “changing your mind.” And when you change your mind, you change your life. Here are a few tips to guide you through:

Difficulties exist to make you appreciate the good times, and teach you to be grateful for all you have.

The challenges are there to show you, in real life and real-time, how not to keep doing things the same way.

Challenges are there to make you more self-aware (since your thoughts and emotions are powerful creative forces).

Awareness is the first step to positive change; so build your self-awareness regarding your present challenges. Be happy that you’ve found ways that don’t work and with an optimistic attitude, try something different. Look at the situation from a different point of view and find innovative solutions.

'body' => '
Everyone feels fear. Without it, we would most likely not survive past childhood! The fear response is extremely powerful and with good reason. But, the truth is that today, most of our fears are emotional in nature. They’re not the primal fears that are based on physical safety. Instead, we have emotional fears like fear of rejection, failure, ridicule, bankruptcy, loss of a relationship, inability to perform some task, shame and the wrath of others.

I’m not saying we live in fear all the time. And, sometimes fear is actually a great motivating force. The problem arises when we become paralyzed by fear, when we stop being able to make decisions and relinquish our personal power to others.

Here’s a great tip for taking back your personal power so you can look fear in the face and still do what you want to do. This is a great exercise to do:

Think about the thing that you are fearing.

Allow the fear to come up as a feeling. Focus all of your attention on the feeling. Let it pass.

Thank your fear for alerting you to a problem. What is the problem? Identify the problem.

Realize that you are IMAGINING the problem. It DOES NOT EXIST right now. You are only painting a worst-case scenario in your imagination and allowing that awful scenario to determine your actions.

Choose to imagine a best-case scenario. Allow this to be your new point of focus. Imagine it from an “already achieved” perspective.

Now - which direction would you rather give your imagination: the one that makes you feel paralyzed, unworthy, stupid and small? Or, the one that makes you feel like you can do it, if you try?

Let your imagination relax on the good scenario. Make this your point of focus now.

If you teach yourself to become empowered with a best-case “what if” scenario, you’ll be bolder and stronger.

'body' => '
Is your life really going to improve if you become more Optimistic?

Yes! You are more likely to achieve your goals, If you think that the future can be positive. When you believe that life is good and that things will work out in your favor, you become less stressed; optimism helps your body release the negative effects of chronic stress. Optimists are also less prone to drama, getting their feelings hurt, and holding grudges, than pessimists. They don’t sweat the small stuff; they are more accepting of others. Coping with change and uncertainty becomes easier and you will come away from difficult situations feeling empowered, wiser and more hopeful.

Here are 10 tips to assist you in becoming more optimistic today:

Choose to be optimistic!

Actively look for the silver lining (the hidden benefits). Take a few moments to breathe, step back and see if something good can come of the situation

Surround yourself with positive people. Optimism, just like any other attitude, is contagious!

Be grateful. There is always something to be grateful for, if you just look for it.

Learn to let go rather than to quit. Letting go of a bad relationship, for example, is different than quitting. Letting go of a goal that doesn’t inspire you, is different than quitting.

Create your future. The past is the past and it is full of great lessons. Right now you are creating your future… instead of passively waiting for it.

Talk about possibilities and solutions, not limitations and problems. There may not be a perfect solution to every problem but there is almost always more than one way to improve it. There is always opportunity for improvement, even if that improvement is tiny.

Focus on what you can do, not what you can’t do and talk about your strengths instead of your fears. Be proactive instead of reactive, and boldly attempt new solutions to old problems, rather than spinning your wheels expecting things to be different this time. Let go of the victim mentality and take responsibility for your actions, 100%. That means, minimize the obstacles to your success and happiness, like bad habits, being around negative people, and unsupportive or dis-empowering choices.

Know that everything is temporary - the good times, the bad times, the easy things and hard things, happiness and sadness… everything is transitory so you don’t need to feel like you are stuck in a forever spiral of doom and gloom.

Talk to yourself with kindness, compassion, encouragement, enthusiasm and positivity - exactly as you would talk to your very best friend. Respect yourself, but don’t take yourself or life too seriously!

'description' => '

'body' => '

'body' => '

'description' => '

'body' => '

'body' => '
